Computing for Chemists

Description

This module is divided into two sections.

  • The application of data processing and statistical software to the treatment of laboratory-generated data.
  • The use of computer applications in cheminformatics.

Learning Outcomes

  1.  use a variety of specialized computer programs for statistical analysis of data 

  2. Apply statistical methods for hypothesis testing, analytical method validation and proficiency testing

  3. Prepare quality control charts in both Excel and Minitab

  4.  use a variety of specialized computer programs to construct, store and visualize 2D and 3D molecular structures.

  5.  perform analysis of different spectroscopy data using specialised software packages.
