Maker Projects 2

Description

This module progresses the competencies gained from Maker Projects 1 through more advanced projects. Hand tools, power tools, basic and advanced machinery will be used. Learners assess and select processing systems, construction methods and materials before manufacture. Learners also prepare relevant production documentation for product manufacture.

Learning Outcomes

  1. 1. Apply through project work the cognitive and practical skills necessary to produce high quality furniture.

  2. 2. Use applied technologies and material theory to furniture making practice and project work.

  3. 3. Assess, plan, formulate and apply hand, power tool and machining processes necessary to produce high quality furniture, components and products to defined specification.

  4. 4. Prepare and integrate relevant production documentation for product manufacture.

  5. 5. Design and construct manufacturing jigs/work holding devices to expand machine capacity and enhance processing safety.

  6. 6. Evaluate, reflect, propose and improve manufacturing efficiency and quality.

  7. 7. Integrate and apply manufacturing systems and techniques related to high quality furniture manufacture.
