Tech companies looking to recruit GMIT graduates

The Careers Office in GMIT will host its Annual Careers Fair on Monday, 3 October, at the Dublin Road (Galway) campus from 12 noon to 3pm.  Over seventy companies and organisations will have stands at the event which is aimed at GMIT students and graduates.

The programme of events and activities will include CV clinics, advice on career opportunities, emerging job growth areas and trends, as well as information on postgraduate study, volunteering, public and private sector job opportunities and more.

Bridie Killoran, GMIT Careers Officer, says “It is great to see a variety of new companies from various sectors such as Software, Science, Agriculture, Construction, Business and Medical Device. There has been a 20% increase in new companies attending and this is representative of growth nationally in areas such as Accounting, Auditing, Biopharma, IT / Computer Software, and Business Services.

One of the new companies attending the Careers Fair this year is SiteMinder.

Sharon Whyte, Talent Acquisition Advisor, SiteMinder, says: “SiteMinder is a multi-cultural tech pioneer undertaking massive growth. We are an energetic, fast-moving company, backed by the same investors at Facebook, Netflix and Spotify. We’re an Australian software company with market leading products that support hotels to manage and maximize their online presence.”

“We are delighted to be taking part in the GMIT careers fair this year and we are very excited and look forward to meeting all recent and upcoming graduates. We have a number of roles in Sales, Customer Service and Technical Support so don't be shy and pop over for a chat.” she says.

Another company in attendance will be Intel, who return each year to take part in Fair. Daniel McGuire, European Talent Acquisition Recruiter, Intel, says: “We are really looking forward to meeting the GMIT students at the career fair on 3rd October and continue the great relationship we share with the college. We are particularly looking forward to meeting the Science and Engineering students to discuss all the graduate opportunities we offer."
