GMIT Mayo hosts Open Morning for secondary school pupils and teachers

Event is open to mature students and the general public (13 Nov, 10am to 1pm)

GMIT Mayo is opening its doors to the public on Friday, 13 November (10am – 1pm), for an Open Morning for secondary school students, parents and anyone interested in starting or returning to third-level study as a mature student.

Visitors will have an opportunity to take part in workshops on the various disciplines on offer in the Mayo campus in Castlebar. There will also be information stands providing information on all programmes including:  Business, Information Technology, Digital Media and Society, Culture and Environment (with Tourism), Outdoor Education, Sustainable Building Technology, Nursing and Social Care.

 

Staff and students will be on hand to talk about the many services available to support students during their time at third level. Visitors will also have an opportunity to view the beautiful interior of the GMIT Mayo campus, formerly St Mary’s hospital, which has been restored and refurbished in recent years into a state of the art learning centre with excellent facilities.

 

“Career Guidance Counsellors will have the opportunity to gather the most up to date information on both recent and future developments at GMIT Mayo at a special seminar with Dr Deirdre Garvey,  Head of Campus and Heads of Department, Michael Gill (Business, Technology & Humanities) and Justin Kerr (Nursing, Social Care & Health Sciences),” says GMIT Student Services Officer Anne Donnelly.

 

““Visitors will also have opportunities to meet up with GMIT’s Access Officer, Counsellor, Chaplain and other staff to find out about GMIT’s access and disability service, scholarship programmes, financial supports, medical service and many more.”
