GMIT offers eight free upskilling courses under Springboard 2017
Construction Management, Food Innovation, Culinary Arts, Medical Device Technology, Sales & Customer Service, Computing (Software Development) and Computing (Data Analytics)
Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) is pleased to offer over 260 free places on a range of Springboard courses in Business, Culinary Arts, Engineering, Science and Computing, from September.
The courses, which will commence at the Galway and Mayo campuses in September, are a mix of certificate (L6), undergraduate (L7) and postgraduate (L8 and L9) upskilling programmes. They are all open to unemployed people and some are open to those already in employment. Two courses are delivered fully online only. Applications should be made through the HEA Springboard website (www.springboardcourses.ie).
The GMIT Springboard courses are as follows:
Galway Campus
• Certificates in Medical Device Technology & Quality Management (EIQA Diploma). Part-time, classroom-based (daytime) L7 course – 50 credits.
• Quality for the Medical Device Industry. Part-time, classroom-based (evening) L8 course – 40 credits.
• Certificate in Culinary Arts and Professional Cookery. Part-time, classroom-based (daytime) L6 course – 30 credits.
• Certificate in Food Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Part-time, classroom based (daytime) L9 course – 30 credits.
• Higher Diploma in Science – Computing (Data Analytics). 18 month, online L8 course – 75 credits.
• Higher Diploma in Science in Computing. 18 month/ 12 month online L8 course – 90 credits.
Mayo Campus
• Certificate in Sales and Customer Service with a Language. Part-time, classroom-based (daytime) L6 course – 50 credits.
• Certificate in Construction Management. Part-time, classroom-based (daytime) L6 course – 40 credits.
Peter Butler, Lifelong Learning Coordinator, Galway campus, says: “GMIT is delighted to be able to offer 262 free places in total on these new courses under the HEA funded Springboard initiative (2017).
Over half of the courses were funded based on their success of previous years in returning people to employment in roles for which there is continued demand. We are also delighted to be able to offer 100 employed people places on two online courses, the Higher Diploma in Science - Computing in Software Development and the Higher Diploma in Science - Computing (Data Analytics).”
