GMIT offers new part-time programme in Supervisory Management

GMIT is delighted to offer a new part-time programme ‘Certificate in Supervisory Management’ which will be delivered in the Mayo and Galway campuses from September.

The programme is aimed at individuals who are already working in positions of supervisory management and those who aspire to a supervisory position. It aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to manage people and resources on a daily basis.

Subjects cover areas of human resource management, communication, planning, organising, leadership, motivation and evaluation, including a range of business skills, all in a diverse range of work environments.

Clodagh Geraghty, lecturer at GMIT Mayo, says: “This academic award is designed to accommodate working people and will be delivered over two days per month on campus.  The programme incorporates online and work based learning which ensures that the students will be able to immediately apply their learning to their work. It is 12 month programme of study.”

“The educational programme has been developed in response to industry needs in the region. It consists of 60 academic credits and it is a level 7 programme on the national qualifications framework.”

Carmel Brennan, Head of Department of Accounting & Information Systems, GMIT, says: “This programme is anchored in the students' workplace which will ensure that learning is practical and benefits both the student and their employer.'

“There is a very clear progression for those that want to go on to pursue a degree programme, upon successful completion of the one year programme.  We feel this is very important in an age where educational qualifications, lifelong learning and upskilling are essential for employee progression and change.”
