GMIT Tourism & Arts students host brunch in aid of Epilepsy Ireland
Students in the GMIT College of Tourism & Arts hosted a very successful Irish-themed brunch in the Galway campus last week (Wednesday 15th February) in aid of Epilepsy Ireland.
At €10 per person, guests were treated to a brunch menu showcasing the very best of Irish produce made entirely in house by students on the Higher Certificate in Culinary Arts programme and served by students from the Bachelor of Arts in Hotel Management programme.
At two separate sittings, guests were offered a menu choice of homemade sausages, black pudding, and cured bacon, made entirely from free range Castlemine pork. A selection of breads and pastries were baked fresh that morning and juices were freshly pressed. Guests were also treated to a crêpe flambéed at table side accompanied by a fresh barista coffee.
Diarmuid Ó Conghaile, lecturer and event organiser, says it was an excellent learning and teaching event for a great cause; “these charity events afford the students the opportunity to change the script and offer something different therefor enhancing their overall learning experience”.
Edel Killarney from the Galway Office of Epilepsy Ireland was in attendance and thanked the students for their effort and achievement is hosting such an event.
