International Woman's Day at GMIT
International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender equality.
The theme for IWD this year is #ChoosetoChallenge.
GMIT is delighted to inform you of a number of events that are taking place to mark International Women's Day this year.
These include a coffee break with poetry & prose, an art exhibition, a seminar on contemporary historical themes relating to gender and equality as well as a networking event for women in food.
Events are open to staff and students in the Institute.

Galway International Hotel School (GIHS) Networking Event for Women in Food This webinar and networking event for women in the food and hospitality sector is be hosted by Jacinta Dalton and Sally McKenna and is open to all. The session will comprise of three panel discussions followed by networking rooms. When you register, you will be asked to choose a breakout room you wish to join, these will comprise smaller, interactive rooms, where your host will guide you in discussion. |

Art exhibition The BA in Contemporary Art Practices programme in GMIT Mayo is showcasing work in progress by our 3rd year women students. The work ranges from drawing, painting, print, 3D work, animation, and digital experiments, reflecting themes incorporating personal histories, physical, digital and metaphysical spaces, including domestic challenges encountered in dealing with day-to-day life during the pandemic. |
