National and international hotel and tourism companies to take part

Over 50 representatives from employers groups within the Hotel, Tourism, and Hospitality industry are to attend the GMIT College of Tourism and Arts (CTA) annual Careers Fair, on Wednesday next, 8 March, in the Dublin Road (Galway) campus.

This event is an excellent opportunity for students to meet with industry stakeholders as up to 400 GMIT Tourism students will be seeking national and international work placements later this year. In addition many students soon to graduate will have an opportunity to meet potential employers and discuss graduate programmes and jobs on offer in the tourism industry.

Cait Noone, Head of the GMIT College of Tourism & Arts, says:” We are delighted that the number of companies and organisations exhibiting at our fair is increasing each year since its commencement 11 years ago. This event is a wonderful opportunity for our students to meet potential employers. Research has shown over 90% of students will have secured full time employment or accredited internships prior to their examinations in May. GMIT is very grateful to the many industry partners who travel to participate in this important event and once again we are opening the Fair to all tourism students in the IOT sector.”

Hotel Hershey from the USA will once again join us and from the UK, Scotland and Northern Ireland  we welcome The Landmark Hotel, London, Seabourn Cruises, Fairmont St Andrews and Hastings Hotels. Group and family run hotels and restaurants from around the country will also be well represented, as well as retail and tourism organisations.”

The CTA Careers Fair is open to all students, graduates, alumni of GMIT, and students from other institutes of education and the general public.  It will take place on Wednesday, 8 March in the New Foyer and reception of GMIT from 1.30 to 4pm  For full details, see:
