Shaun Purcell appointed to GMIT Governing Body

GMIT is pleased to announce that Mr Shaun Purcell, Chief Executive of Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim Education and Training Board (MSLETB), has been appointed to the GMIT Governing Body by the Minister for Education & Skills, Richard Bruton, TD. Mr Purcell’s term of office is from 7 March (2017) to 31 March 2020.

Dr Fergal Barry, President of GMIT, welcomed the appointment of Mr Purcell to the Governing Body, saying he looks forward to working with him and all board members on GMITs development across all of its campuses.

Mr Purcell was nominated for the post by the board of the Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim ETB. It is one of six memberships of the Governing Body nominated by Education & Training Boards, the others being Galway & Roscommon ETB, and Limerick & Clare ETB.

Mr Purcell formerly held the posts of Education Officer in Dublin VEC, Chief Executive Officer in Sligo VEC, and Chief Executive Officer in Donegal ETB, before joining the Mayo Sligo Leitrim ETB.  He is a member of the executive committee member of the Regional Skills Forum.
