Why study engineering at GMIT?

GMIT’s School of Engineering provides a broad range of engineering and technology courses at Higher Certificate, Degree and Honours Degree level, and upskilling opportunities for those already in the workplace.

GMIT’s engineering degrees are accredited by all relevant professional bodies, including Engineers Ireland, the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland (RIAI), the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), and the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technology (CIAT).

With the recent upturn in the engineering industry, graduates can expect good starting salaries, and opportunities to progress their careers quickly.

Many engineers go on to hold senior positions in their organisation. In fact, engineering has long been ranked as the most common undergraduate degree among Fortune 500 CEOs. 

Student Life

Students enjoy a varied education including project-based learning, group work, and a final-year project which is designed to challenge students on real industry problems.

Students can also do work placement modules in Ireland or overseas, or decide to study overseas for a semester in Europe, and North America.
